57% of unemployed blame Covid-19 for job loss, continuing unemployment

A survey by Express Employment Professionals found that 57% of unemployed Americans attribute their job loss and continuing unemployment to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Of those surveyed, 41% have been out of work for six months or less, becoming unemployed during the pandemic.

The survey included 1,504 unemployed US adults and took place between Oct. 15 and Oct. 28.

Finding a job is the top priority for 70% of unemployed adults and, on average, they spend 12 hours per week looking for work, according to Express’ survey. Unemployed adults applied to 11 jobs in the previous month but only had one interview on average.

The survey also found that 85% would be willing to accept some aspects of a job that may be less than ideal. And 47% would accept a job not in their desired field.
