News Release

The American Staffing Association released the following statement in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week.

“Apprenticeships serve as important and proven tools that allow workers to earn and learn while advancing their skills and their employability,” said Richard Wahlquist, president and chief executive officer of ASA. “Each year, staffing companies across the country work with client companies to invest in apprenticeship programs to help address critical skills gaps and to provide job seekers with new occupational paths.”

“As our country recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic, staffing companies will continue to ensure that apprenticeships play a significant role in the upskilling and reskilling of U.S. workers.”

A 2018 ASA Workforce Monitor® survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults conducted online by The Harris Poll found that a majority of Americans (62%) agree that apprenticeships—or “earn while learning” vocational opportunities—make people more employable than going to college.
