With the holiday season in full swing, the American Staffing Association wants to remind staffing agencies about the steps they can take to keep temporary and contract workers safe in manufacturing and warehouse workplaces across the country.

Throughout the season, ASA will share the latest resources and best practices regarding temporary worker safety in coordination with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, including

“Temporary and contract workers are supporting businesses all across the country this holiday season, assisting companies in meeting consumer demand, and their safety is a top priority,” said ASA president and chief executive officer Richard Wahlquist. “As the holiday season kicks into high gear, we’re excited to share practical ways to help keep these valuable workers safe.”

“The holiday season is typically a very busy time for businesses, and just as consumer demands increase, so must an employer’s awareness of keeping their employees safe,” said assistant secretary of Labor for safety and health Doug Parker. “All workers – from those starting their first job to those making some extra money as a seasonal worker to those year-round employees – are entitled to a workplace free from hazards and to be trained in a language they understand to recognize and prevent hazards.”

The campaign marks the latest effort by ASA to help protect the health and safety of temporary and contract workers. ASA was recently elevated to OSHA’s ambassador status in recognition of its longstanding efforts to promote awareness of health and safety measures in the workplace, including through OSHA’s Temporary Worker Initiative and ASA’s Safety Matters web page.
