It’s been nearly a year since Yolanda Seals-Coffield spearheaded the launch of PwC’s massive $2.4 billion people program called My+.

During this time, Seals-Coffield completed the first-year building blocks of PwC’s three-year My+ program and moved up its ranks from U.S. deputy people leader to U.S. chief people officer.

And how is this major cultural transformation project going as it prepares to enter the second year of its multi-year journey, in which PwC’s benefits, wellbeing, development and compensation are reimagined?

Seals-Coffield, who also served as PwC’s chief general counsel before moving into an HR role, recently sat down with HRE at the Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp)’s Next Practices conference in Scottsdale, Ariz., to discuss the My+ program. She chatted about the program’s impact, its big wins and the challenges it presented across PwC, the professional services giant with 65,000 employees in the U.S.

Here is what Seals-Coffield, who was named a Rising Star in HR in 2022 by HRE, had to say about the multi-year transformational cultural journey and big wins to date.

HRE: How did you lay down the groundwork for the My+ program?                   

In order to achieve big wins like retooling paid time off and developing the framework for the My+ program, Seals-Coffield and her team spent a year doing the prep work before the program’s launch. Then, with the groundwork laid, it was time to build the cornerstones of the program, which included a great deal of listening and polling employees, using employee volunteers to encourage the program’s use and working through challenges.
