Handshake, a company that has been described as LinkedIn for college students with a diversity focus, today announced an $80 million series E funding round.

The round brings total investment in Handshake to $235.5 million and its valuation to more than $1.5 billion.

Leading the funding round were Lightspeed Venture Partners and Spark Capital.

“Since leading Handshake’s Series B in 2016, we’ve been thrilled to watch the company become the clear No. 1 way for students to find internships and jobs, and there is still so much opportunity ahead,” said Will Reed, general partner at Spark Capital.

Also joining the funding round were Coatue Management and Valiant Peregrine Fund along with participation from prior investors — True Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, EQT Ventures, GGV Capital, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Emerson Collective.

San Francisco-based Handshake plans to use the funds to create new platform features and further propel its international expansion. The company recently launched in the UK.

Handshake reported it is nearing $100 million in annual revenue. The company was also featured in a recent issue of Staffing Industry Review magazine.
