  • “It’s no surprise to see the demand for tech professionals rise as everyone has realised the important role tech has played in keeping the country going during these times. From working from home, to online shopping for most of our needs, we’ve all had to adapt dramatically and fast, and it’s tech professionals that have underpinned this all. The pandemic has also shown companies what’s possible and in many cases forced them to accelerate their digital transformation strategies. This comes off the back of our Confidence Index 2020 report, which revealed that nearly half of UK IT professionals believed their business would increase their tech budgets as a result of learnings from Covid-19. Moving forward, as businesses seek a way to come out of this situation, IT professionals will play a key role in shaping the future of UK industries.”

Last month CWJobs’ annual Confidence Index 2020 revealed nearly half (49%) of IT DMs believe their companies will increase tech budgets, as a result of learnings from Covid-19. With every industry feeling the effects of the pandemic, the UK’s tech scene is set to receive a boost of investment.  Over 1,000 IT workers and 500 IT decision makers (DMs) also revealed:

    • 44% said their company has already been impacted detrimentally, in some way by the virus
    • 39% believe general IT skills are the most needed to succeed in the tech industry, as companies look to ensure their teams and infrastructure can support remote working
    • Over a third (36%) chose cyber security as a tech specialism / skill needed right now
