A judge ruled this week that temporary workers could be included along with full-time employees in California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing’s discrimination lawsuit against the computer game company Activision Blizzard, NME reported. The company sought to have the suit dismissed – or its scope narrowed– by saying that the state had wrongly included this group of workers. Speaking to Bloomberg, Samantha Gordon, senior VP of advocacy and organizing at Tech Equity Collaborative, said that the ruling will “send a very important signal” to the wider tech industry, “especially if DFEH can put penalties to Activision for this behavior, and show there’s accountability for worker harm.”
