IT services giant Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. (NASDAQ: CTSH) agreed to settle a lawsuit for $5.7 million over allegations the global firm underpaid a group of US employees for overtime worked, according to court records.

The suit is a class action covering several similar workers; however, the named worker in the lawsuit is Debi Mishar, who was a testing analyst at a Blue Shield of California location for Cognizant in Sacramento, California. The other workers are also in the company’s quality assurance testing business.

Mishar had been paid an annual salary until the company switched him to an hourly wage in August 2012.

The lawsuit was filed in US Federal Court, and the court granted preliminary approval for the settlement in this week’s filing. A hearing for final approval has been set for Nov. 12, 2020.

The lawsuit was originally filed on Aug. 25, 2017.
