HR strategy HR Technology Quiz Stacey Harris column

Small- and medium-sized businesses can keep up with larger companies, provided they have good strategy, as Stacey Harris wrote in her most recent column for HRE.

Time to find out if your company is strategic. Keep track of how you respond to each of the statements below to see if your leadership thinks strategically or not:

  1. When it comes to tracking and managing employee time, senior leaders are confident with what we do.
  2. We’re still waiting on mobile versions of key HR systems, but no one seems to mind — much.
  3. Change? Bring it on. We’ve got documented processes to help us adapt to anything impacting our employees.
  4. Payroll is probably our HR team’s biggest time suck.
  5. Our health and wellness benefits constantly change because we’re always looking to reduce costs.
  6. Our workforce planning is based on detailed data, not hunches or tea leaves.
  7. We rely on Google and YouTube for most of our HR tech support and guidance.
  8. We’re serious when it comes to efficiently managing absences and leaves, as well as creating positive employee experiences.
  9. Turnaround times for new, non-standard reports can take a few days – or maybe weeks. It’s hard to know.
  10. There’s a lot of talk about tracking skills development, but it’s not a priority yet.
