Healthcare expenditures in Massachusetts rose by 9% in 2021 after declining by 2.3% in 2020, Commonwealth Magazine reported. In addition, the Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association noted that hospitals spent $1.3 billion on temporary staffing in 2021. Citing the Center for Health Information and Analysis, the article stated that total healthcare spending in Massachusetts was $67.9 billion in 2021, with a per capita expenditure of $9,715 per resident.
