Recruitment industry continues to grapple with rapidly increasing costs

Job boards have hiked their fees significantly, with recruiters up in arms.

  • Statistics
  • Job boards around the globe have raised their prices by up to 300%, in a move that is deeply impacting recruiters. At a time when filling vacancies has become more difficult than ever, recruitment agencies may be unable or unwilling to support these accelerating costs.

2021 was one of the most challenging years to date for recruitment, as the Great Resignation took root across almost every industry. Now that the number of job vacancies has begun to outweigh the number of unemployed people for the first time ever, consultants need access to every tool at their disposal to effectively attract candidates.

“Job boards are used by the majority of recruitment firms looking to fill vacancies at speed,” comments Rachael Moss, Head of Marketing at Access Recruitment, “These significant price rises will directly impact an agency’s bottom line, so it’s important they understand the conversion rates of applicants to placements in order to assess the true value of their job board spend.”

Staff shortages have been felt across the workforce, with businesses desperate to fill vacancies in a range of sectors. As demand continues to outstrip supply, the rising fees for job boards could continue to prolong the effects of the Great Resignation.

“Now is the time for agencies to become more self-reliant by considering their own candidate attraction strategies. Investing in their brand with a website designed for candidate attraction, increasing their reach through better digital inclusivity, and making better use of their existing candidate database,” concludes Moss.
