The PRO Act was passed by the US House of Representatives on Tuesday. MarketWatch reported the legislation would add protections for workers seeking to unionize and it could also make it more difficult for some firms to categorize workers as independent contractors. A group representing online work services platforms such as Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE: UBER) and Lyft Inc. (NASDAQ: LYFT) expressed disappointment in the legislation. However, the PRO Act must still get approval from the US Senate.
