HireVue, a provider of virtual interviewing and assessments technology, acquired AI-powered recruitment chatbot AllyO, the companies reported this week.

“The addition of AllyO to HireVue’s solutions will enable talent acquisition teams to have engaging, personalized conversations with millions of active job-seekers any time of day or night and on the devices they prefer,” said Kevin Parker, CEO of HireVue.

Terms of the transaction were not announced.

“AllyO is a natural extension to HireVue’s solutions and we are thrilled to become a part of it,” said Sahil Sahni and Ankit Somani, co-founders of AllyO. They said the combination with HireVue’s video interviewing and assessments will increase hiring velocity and talent quality.

AllyO, based in Palo Alto, California, was founded in 2016. The company won an annual “Shark Tank” style competition at SIA’s Collaboration in the Gig Economy Conference in 2018. It had announced a $45 million funding round last year.

HireVue is based in South Jordan, Utah. Its products include facial scanning technology as well as monitoring of audio and language content during interviews with the aim of using algorithms to determine whether a candidate will be successful in a specific job.
