HCMC Legal, parent of legal staffing industry leaders Hire Counsel and Mestel & Co., has named Mark Janek as CFO. Janek has more than 30 years of financial and executive experience, including at national and publicly traded companies such as Energy Distribution Partners, Standard Parking/SP+ Corp. and Matson Logistics.

Executive search firm Buffkin/Baker appointed Dr. David Ballard as chief clinical officer in its healthcare practice. Ballard is the past president of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare. Ballard previously served as chief quality officer at Baylor Scott & White Health. He has also held leadership roles at Emory University, the University of Virginia and the Mayo Clinic. Ballard is a board-certified internist. Buffkin/Baker also named Marcia Rice as principal, responsible for creating value in the firm’s healthcare practice. Rice has more than 11 years of experience and previously served as a physician recruiter for Ascension Saint Thomas. She is based in Brentwood, Tennessee.

Steve Wehn, VP of government relations at AMN Healthcare Services Inc., was appointed chair of the board at International Esperanza Project, a Dallas-based nonprofit focused on healthcare and community infrastructure projects in developing countries.

Spherion Staffing and Recruiting announced that Molly Gaffney-Keebler and Joe Keebler took over ownership responsibilities of its Johnson City, Tennessee, office.

Crosschq named Brandon Redlinger as VP of marketing. Redlinger joined Crosschq from Revenue.io; before that, he led demand generation at Demandbase.
