The American Staffing Association promoted Stephen Dwyer, Esq., to chief operating officer. The organization also promoted Lisa Simpson to VP, events and sales, and added Dustin Norwood in the newly created position of VP and chief learning officer.

Dwyer is taking on the additional role of COO along with his current responsibilities as senior VP and chief legal officer. He replaces former COO Steven Berchem, CSP, who is leaving ASA after 22 years to pursue new personal and professional opportunities.

As COO, Dwyer has general management responsibilities with principal oversight of the association’s corporate alliances, information systems, marketing, meetings and events, publications, public relations and research. Dwyer joined ASA in 2002 after being associated with Washington, DC, and New York law firms. He is included on SIA’s Staffing 100 list of influential people in the staffing industry.

In the newly created role of VP, events and sales, Simpson oversees all logistical considerations of the association’s major events. In addition, she directs the association’s corporate alliances team, which oversees associate members (staffing suppliers), corporate partners, exhibitor relationships, advertising and sponsorships. She has been with ASA for 16 years.

Norwood joins ASA from the US Patent and Trademark Office where he was deputy CLO and oversaw developmental programs. As CLO for ASA, Norwood oversees all member educational and certification programs and identifies, develops, implements, and evaluates instructional strategies, programs, and learning technologies in support of the association’s mission.

ASA is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and advances the interests of staffing, recruiting and workforce solutions firms.
