Hirewell, a Chicago-headquartered staffing company, acquired Rainmakers, a jobs website that connects companies with sales talent. The deal closed March 30.

Rainmakers, based in San Francisco, was founded in 2016 by Michael Ferguson, Vladimir Kozyrev and Mike Theron.

“Working with Hirewell will allow Rainmakers to significantly expand our sales talent marketplace while continuing to build out the Rainmakers technology stack,” said Ferguson, who is also CEO of Rainmakers.

Ferguson will remain as president of the Rainmakers division of Hirewell.

Terms of the transaction were not announced, but Hirewell said it’s a mixture of cash and equity.

Matt Massucci, founder and CEO of Hirewell, said niche sites such as Rainmakers offer professionals the ability to focus on roles that fit their interests.

“We’re excited about Rainmakers joining Hirewell and offering clients another alternative to finding great talent,” Massucci said.

The acquisition comes after last year’s $21 million investment in Hirewell from global investment firm Prytek. As part of that deal, Hirewell acquired ICV, a Tel Aviv, Israel-based software company. ICV’s software scans public data records to build candidate funnels across skill sets.
