Programmatic job advertising platform PandoLogic reported a 35% increase in job openings in July. PandoLogic’s data includes information from more than 125,000 employers.

The most critical areas of need for workers were truck drivers, supply-chain infrastructure workers, quick-service restaurant workers and hospitality workers. In addition, July saw a regional surge for healthcare workers in Florida, Texas, California and New York.

“Demand to fill jobs far outstrips supply,” PandoLogic CEO Terry Baker said. “The top job openings represent the economic engine in the US — without truck drivers, our package delivery infrastructure fails; the inability to find hospitality or restaurant workers keeps these businesses closed.”

The 35% increase in job openings in July was preceded by increases of 21% in June, 17% in May and 38% in April.

“We have talked to many companies coming out of the pandemic — the issue for their services is not demand, it’s finding workers,” Baker said. “US companies need more efficient methods to connect to qualified talent.”

PandoLogic last month was acquired by Veritone Inc., a provider of an operating system for artificial intelligence.

Earlier this week, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported there were 590,000 job openings in June.
