Tech job postings rise 16% in second quarter

Postings for tech jobs rose 16% in the second quarter compared to the first, according to a report released last week by DHI Group Inc. (NYSE: DHX), the parent company of job board Dice.

“We are in one of the hottest tech job markets since the dot-com era, as evidenced by the upward trend in tech job postings since November 2020,” said Art Zeile, CEO of Dice.

DHI’s analysis is based on more than 1 million tech job postings between April and June of this year and is compared to job-posting data from January through March as well as historical trends.

It noted 48 out of the top 50 cities for tech jobs saw growth. Las Vegas saw the highest growth in tech jobs among cities with a quarter-over-quarter increase of 43%. It was followed by Sacramento, California, with an increase of 36%.

  3. Huntsville, Alabama, up 35%
  4. Nashville, Tennessee, up 32%
  5. Hartford, Connecticut, up 31%
  6. Miami, up 30%
  7. Colorado Springs, Colorado, up 27%
  8. Phoenix, up 26%
  9. Austin, Texas, up 25%
  10. Jersey City, New Jersey, up 25%

The most popular skills included Python, project management, Salesforce-related skills and data management.
