How Glassdoor & Other Companies Are Celebrating Pride Virtually This Year

COVID-19

Pride month takes place every June to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. The Stonewall riots, also known as the Stonewall uprising, are widely considered to constitute the most critical event that led to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the positive impact of LGBTQ+ people around the world.

Although in-person Pride celebrations are canceled due to COVID-19, many companies have taken it upon themselves to plan intentional virtual celebrations and programming to honor the importance of Pride and LGBTQ+ communities throughout June. To kick off Pride month, we’ve rounded up several other companies who are also virtually celebrating this year! See them listed below.

Glassdoor’s Virtual Pride Celebrations:

  • Pride Kickoff: Virtual Pride Bingo (June 4th): Get ready to play some Bingo. This is not your grandma’s Bingo, instead, we will be paying homage to Drag Queen Bingo! So grab a Fabulous outfit, wig, shoes, and nails as the CATEGORY IS PRIDE!
  • Watch & Discuss: The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson (June 18th): Our Pride ERG invites you to grab some popcorn, a drink, and watch this beautiful award-winning documentary with us. After the movie, we will discuss thoughts on The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson.
  • “Thank you for being a friend!” Golden Girls Trivia and Social Hour (June 26th): To close out the month of June, the Pride ERG wants to “Thank you for being a Friend”!  We will host a trivia game and social hour honoring one of the most popular TV sitcoms within the LGBTQ+ community: The Golden Girls.
