“Staffing association” is this week’s Staffing Word of the Week. Examples of staffing associations include the American Staffing Association; the TechServe Alliance; the Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services, or ACSESS; and the Mexican staffing association, or AMECH.

Each national association represents the interests of the staffing industry for their respective countries or specific staffing niches within a country. On a global level, the staffing industry is represented by the World Employment Confederation. Recently, the WEC stepped up to assist AMECH when Mexico’s president announced significant new regulations on the industry within that country.

SIA’s online Lexicon of staffing terminology defines staffing association as:

“An organization that represents and promotes the interests of the staffing industry and provides political lobbying and other services to its members. Members normally comprise staffing companies but may also include other ancillary service providers depending on the constitution of the association.”

The full definition is available online.

In addition, the Lexicon includes other staffing terms and access is available at no charge.
